an enormously sturdy wheatwine beer aged in the four grain barrels from laws. i think there are a couple of these in different laws barrels, but i couldnt ask for much more than what this one is offering me. its a strong one for sure, immediately and permanently boozy, with notes of char and soy and vanilla, but im not sure there are any intentional adjuncts in here. done with wren house, who kills it too, neat that these guys got together. the color is oddly dark in my mind, like molasses or something, see through, but a deep brown tone, and no head at all, some haze, and an apparent viscosity. aroma is sweet as heck, vanilla and cooked banana and brown sugar and toffee, diabetic even, especially with all the alcohol, but its appealing too, and there is some bitterness to it. so sweet though, grainy and also with an added sweet element, soy too, and tobacco and vanilla pods, sexy but sloppy at the same time, the booze is over the top, and this might do better in the 8% abv range if they could have a do over. so much whiskey on it too, wow. good but not great, one of the less compelling wiley roots beers i had today, but all of them were special so thats not much of a dis...
