Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger khaki head that dissipates to a thin cap with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, vanilla, cocoa and light peanut butter with a little lactose. Flavor is dark toasted malt, vanilla, lactose, light cocoa and peanuts. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I've been trying to avoid sweet dessert stouts, and this "rocky road" one sounded like it could be, but manages to provide the marshmallow (vanilla), chocolate and peanut flavors with a nice mild level of sweetness that allows the flavors to come through without too much dessert sweetness. This is what I hope for in adjunct stouts. The vanilla and chocolate are great and well balanced, but the peanut is a bit reserved. I have a bunch of peanut stouts lined up right now (was there a big sale on peanuts lately?) and I'm enjoying this as it is. This is one of the better adjunct flavored stouts I've had in a while; nicely done.
