I’m a sucker for hazelnuts in a Stout. It’s not often that I see them, so I spring for them whenever I see them, this one being from Tavour. I imagine the addition of macadamia will bump up the nuttiness here, but it’s also working against vanilla and coffee. Let’s crack it open and see what we’ve got
Pours completely pitch black with 3 fingers of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves nice lacing
Oh yeah, this is extremely nutty in the nose. I’m picking up on aromas of roasted hazelnut, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, macadamia, vanilla creme, brown sugar, light caramel, and a touch of peanut butter
While still nutty in taste, it doesn’t have the same driving force of roastiness to support it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting hazelnut, peanut butter, milk chocolate, sweet vanilla, light roast coffee, and light caramel. The swallow brings notes of roasted hazelnut, caramel, vanilla creme, peanut butter, milk chocolate, macadamia, and burnt sugar
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky and sweet
It’s a bit sweeter than I would’ve preferred, but pretty good overall
