Not a traditional double IPA. If a slightly flowery, fruity IPA is something you'd like to try--or if you're just getting tired of indistinctive hop bombs--I'd recommend you give this beer a go.
Looks great. Hazy amber like most other dipas. The similarities end there.
Smells are subdued with little hop-forwardness. More of a saison vibe to my nose.
Tastes herbal (in a good way, not medicine-like), and slightly sweet. Given the style, I was surprised by how much of a cider-y/sour-y quality it had.
Fills full--while it's got a chewy mouthfeel, the alcohol is hidden well and it goes down easy. At 9%, almost too easy.
Overall, I probably won't go out of my way to find it again, but I was very happy to have tried something unique, especially from a brewery that's just down the road.
Great brew.

L - Agressive pour produces a couple of inches of head, reddish orange, hazy body.
S - Funky yeast smell, lemony.
T - Dunno if this is an old bottle but the hop flavor is really muted for a DIPA. Really soft hops, sweet malts, smooth yeast flavors coming through with a bit of earthy funk but not dominate by any means. 9% alc by vol is really well hidden. Slightly bitter on the finish.
F - pretty full. "Rounded" as opposed to crisp.
O - Really intersting brew and quite enjoyable but I'm going to knock it in the overall score because its really off style (unless like I said its an old bottle in which case maybe D9 should think about some bottle dates...).
