With Cinco de Mayo in the rear view mirror and warmer weather well in sight, the need for crispness, cleanliness, refreshing beer choices beckon. Ei8ball Brewers of northern Kentucky answer the bell with a cerveza-style lager that piques the attention of beer lovers with zesty limes added to the mash.

Brilliantly clear, the pale straw lager proudly displays its steadily streaming carbonation. Fueling an arid and fragile froth, the aromas of musty straw, fresh kilned barley, bread and dough, and the herbal hop character of honeysuckle and citrus gently graze the nose en route to a grainy-sweet early palate with suggestions of cereal.

The middle palate is short and registers the sweet grain flavors that culminate from pilsner malt and corn. But a light savory crustiness provides an added malt character to overcome the cereal character and to prop up the mild hop bitterness in finish. Light lime-like acidity and bitterness rides alongside the hops with an herbal verbena-like peppery bite.

Light, crisp and clean, the beer offers the utter refreshment that they style promises but it's culinary art and boldness in taste and texture leaves even the most staunch lager lovers wanting more. Its malt-balanced finish is lightly creamy, finishing with lime zest and tortilla.
