Appearance: jet black with half a finger of light brown head. Extremely low active carbonation.
Smell: tons of dark roasted barley on the front. A slightly light oat body is picked up later on. Mossy hops lighten up the back end with the oats. Coffee grounds round out the aroma.
Taste: pretty much what you would expect after the aroma. Plenty of heavily roasted barley blasts onto the palate. A slightly crayon texture hits on the body. Oats and some mossy hops linger on the back end.
Mouthfeel: certainly dry, with loads of roasted malts.
Overall: the crayon dry texture is a touch off putting but overall is is solid. Yummy in cask.
