Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip

L: Clear golden copper pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head leave solid lacing.

S: Pine and herbal hops. Lightly toasted malts/grains.

T/F: Follows the nose. Cracked grains and pine/herbal forward hops. Mild citrus. Bitter but not overly so. Light bodied. Clean.

O: A solid IPA. A little north of sessionable on the ABV, but good flavor. Not elite but enjoyable.

S: Pine, candied orange peel, catnip, mint, earthy spice, grapefruit, caramel.

T: Bittersweet grapefruit, orange peel, pine; catnip, mint; some mango and papaya; toasted biscuit and caramel malt. Some moderate lingering pine and grapefruit bitterness.

F: Medium, well-carbonated. Finishes lightly dry, the palate left sticky with hop oils.

O: A great IPA!

An exuberant 4-finger head over a slightly cloudy amber juice. Abundant, thready laci g. Smaell and taste were in accord, orange-citrusy with hops on the top.

Good IPA with a nice NW hop presence. Nothing particularly stunning about this beer but its certainly not bad, its good and has some good flavor. Would drink again if presented with the opportunity.

I really dont know why Mad Hatter needs a new entry just because they added "Midwest" to the label.

Kvetching aside, this is just as good as when it was an IPA, not a MIPA.

Tasted from bottle, 9/10/2017. Head to head with Huma Lupa licious. These two appear to be the same color. Huma is cloudier, Hatter has a bigger head. Slighly hoppier aroma from Hatter. I think Hatter is slighlty maltier, but these are very similar IPAs, both hop forward, malt flavors very subdued even for an IPA, yet avoiding the trap of excessive bitterness that awaits all beers in this style.
