I really dont know why Mad Hatter needs a new entry just because they added "Midwest" to the label.

Kvetching aside, this is just as good as when it was an IPA, not a MIPA.

Tasted from bottle, 9/10/2017. Head to head with Huma Lupa licious. These two appear to be the same color. Huma is cloudier, Hatter has a bigger head. Slighly hoppier aroma from Hatter. I think Hatter is slighlty maltier, but these are very similar IPAs, both hop forward, malt flavors very subdued even for an IPA, yet avoiding the trap of excessive bitterness that awaits all beers in this style.

Picked up 6pk from Meijer in SW Michigan for $9. Poured from bottle into tulip.

L: Clear golden honey with medium head and good lacing that survives the glass.
S: Grapefruit, tangerine, and pine. Late addition and dry hops very characteristic.
T: Citrusy goodness remniscent of West Coast style hop catalog.
MF: Smooth and crisp. Perfect finish to the citra introduction.

Overall, well executed light, floral, and hoppy IPA. Heavy aroma, light bitterness. I'm biased toward WC-style IPAs and was pleasantly surprised to discover this one native to the mid-west. BTW, strongly recommend you also try out it's brother from New Holland: Tasmanian Hatter with a Galaxy hop profile. Both are very solid IPAs.

Not overly hoppy. 65 IBU. Would call this a light IPA. Would drink again!

Pours a cloudy orange with a 1' thick foamy white head that sticks around. Great lacing all down the glass. Fruity hop smell and really smooth triple hop taste. Hard to find anything wrong with this IPA. Would definitely drink again.

I just love scouring the singles coolers at the FGBS here in Lancaster, PA! They have a constantly rotating selection & the price(s) are great. Of course, it helps if I stay on top of my purchases, because otherwise, they become part of the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody.

From the bottle: "Mad Hatter's whimsy is celebrated with floral aromatics from assertive dry-hopping and a bright, hoppy body punctuated with Centennial, Citra, and Michigan-grown Cascade hops."; "Pairings: Aged Cheddars, herb-roasted poultry, vinaigrettes, and Six O'clock".

Welcome (back) to the new, reimagined Mad Hatter! I am really stoked to make your acquaintance, sir. I Pop!ped his cap & went crazy with him on the pour, all of which is part of our long-standing dynamic. His head came up accordingly & caught me on the chin! I wound up with two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky head that slowly fell, leaving loads of sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose held a mouthwatering commingling of pine hops and caramel malt & now The Hatter & I were about to sit down to tea. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but definitely big for the style. The taste was a tasty blend of pine, lemon, grapefruit, mango, papaya, guava & a drizzle of caramel. OMFG! This is just fantastic! I am so glad that they decided to reimagine The Hatter. Finish was dry & bitter, but not in any sort of unpleasant way. Instead, it made me want to don my Hophead hat & engage in some Mad undertakings.
