Clear copper with a caramel color. Very little head but what was there went away rather quickly. Did leave some lacing behind. Slightly darker than the oaked hatter sitting next to it.
A pleasant subdued smokyness in the aroma. Not overpowering as anticipated. The hop aroma is also tamed or masked by the smoke. Smoked meats and bacon also come through.
The smoke seemed to diminish the malt and sense of balance. Very watery mouthfeel. Has hints of bacon fat sweetness to it. Not bad tasting by any means. But compared to the others in the hatter project this one doesn't stand up.
