I got a can of this beer off the Binnys single shelf at their Naperville IL location. It poured a clear copper with nice white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had a nice malt base with steam lager highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with good malt base and subtle bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a very good beer.

Dark copper colored with a fingernail of brown around most of the rim and covering half of the top. The aroma is of caramel, faint grassy hops, and European lager yeast. I’m tasting caramel and not much else. The mouth is light and approachable.

Very nice copper lager. Poured from can to nonic pint glass. Copper in color with a nice finger of foam. Nice fruity aromas with caramel and toffee. Flavors of fruit and nut, caramel and toffee, earthy and hetbal notes linger.

Nice clean crisp lager that actually reminded me more of a regular lager, minus the strong corn flavors. Pours a darker amber-copper color with some great fluffy white head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of nice malt, grain, roasted nuttiness, a little faint floral hops and some caramel. Taste follows the nose, with good balance and drinkability. Smooth, mild mouthfeel and good carbonation. An easy to drink beer with good flavors and balance.

This 100th anniversary beer also happens to be my 100th rating here on beer advocate. It's over hopped in my opinion. It actually tastes more like an american pale ale than an amber lager. Despite that however it's not a bad beer. It's crisp and clean and the hops while overdone for the style are not too much to make the beer unenjoyable. I'd drink it again.

12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 6/12/2019. Pours crystal clear deep golden amber, light orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, peppercorn, and pine. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, peppercorn, and pine. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, citrus peel/zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, floral, wood, grass, peppercorn, and pine on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Slight lingering resins through the glass. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a delicious amber lager. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great balance between juicy/vibrant/earthy hops, and clean dark/bready malts. Mild residual sweetness with crisp drying. A very enjoyable offering, and impressively well made style example as expected. Did not expect it to be as hoppy as it was, but hardly overpowering.
