Had this on tap while at a restaurant. Had a very pumpkin pie smell to it. Tastes like pumpkin pie with a little whipped cream in it. Very smooth taste and a great pumpkin beer.

I decided to start trying pumpkin beers this year and this is the first one that I have endulged in. I choose this particular one because of the sweet picture on the 6 pack and I have tried N.H. before and they make some good brews. This has a nice cinnamon pumpkin smell and goes down smooth. Has a nice drinkability. I will be drinking these on halloween fo sho.

Beer tasted on-tap at the brewery last fall (maybe September). Notes transcribed verbatim.
A: Red-orange, somewhat hazy. Thin white head.
S: Spicy pumpkin aroma. Sweet with fruit, malty.
T: Spicy pumpkin with a slight astringent aftertaste. Sweeter than expected.
M: Moderate thickness, spicy, chewy.
D: Very drinkable considering the alcohol.
(Remembering this beer now a few months later, it was amazing how little the flavor of this one differed from the normal Ichabod. The alcohol was incredibly well-hidden, probably by the intense spiciness of the beer. Lots of "pumpkin ale" spices -- if you like the normal Ichabod you'll probably also like this one. Plus, who ever thinks of making an Imperial Pumpkin Ale? Points to New Holland just for trying it.)

Served from tap at the brewery into a clean, clear pint glass during my visit to the brewery within the past week.
A Dark brown body, translucent though. Nice, creamy head leaves good lacing. 4.0
S Strong pumpkin, alcohol smells. Inviting, interesting. 4.0
T Nice sweet malt pumpkin taste, burn of alcohol. Love this taste and this is a significant improvement over the standard Ichabod. 4.5
M Nice and big, plenty of syrupy stickiness, bigness. 4.5
D Fair to good, reduced a bit by the big ABV presence. 3.5
Notes: I loved this beer, a big improvement over the standard Ichabod which was already respectable.
