This was served on tap at the New Holland brew pub. It is described as a chocolate coffee stout. Poured into a pint glass.
A: pours a dark brown with light passing through, thin white head clings on throughout drink, some lacing
S: bold notes of coffee and cocoa up front, not getting a lot of malt profile behind the coffee, pretty one note
T: bold bitter coffee up front, some creamy notes of dark chocolate, finish is bitter. In my opinion, too many of the less desirable qualities from coffee have been extracted and made it into this beer. There is nothing delicate about it.
MF: body is a bit thin and lacking for a coffee stout, mouthfeel is somewhat creamy
D: over all this beer is a bit of a disappointment. The coffee comes on strong, but that is all there is to this beer. The base beer just doesn't hold up the coffee and the end result is forgettable.
