Appearance: about a half a finger of dense creamy head. A light amber red/ oak brown color to this brew. Strangely transparent for a scotch ale.
Smell: there is. pleasant caramel sweetness on the front of this beer. The body is filled with amber oak and roasted malt. The finish carries a soft and pleasant malt which lingers on the nose.
Taste: it is excellent in its simplicity. Amber malt and a light hop sweetness make this an easy drinker. Doesn't have the depth and complexity of elite scotch ales but certainly has a place to be enjoyed. The finish is a molasses sugary feeling which lingers on the palate for a decent time.
Mouth feel: medium bodied to light but is crazy drinkable.
Overall: again a very drinkable beer for New Holland. Not as dark as one would expect but is certainly a tasty and unique twist on the style.
