It's almost a massive black IPA, this sucker's real hoppy. The crisp, biting citrus can get a little lost in the rich, black malts. There's a little ashy char in the finish, but it's kind of a nice contrast to the grapefruit and pine with dry cocoa. Definitely try this if you see it on tap.

picked up a growler a few days ago at the can release, enjoyed from an AGE tulip. the beer really comes across as a very tasty black ipa. everything from look to lace to roasted hoppiness screams black ipa ...but the body, definitely stouty, but the finish has a hippy bite. I didn't find it overly bitter like other reviewers though more than a week has passed and I have noticed that other half beers are hop explosions when they first make an appearance (which I love, but some seem to favor the brews w a week or more in them...weird, I know).
I love a great hoppy stout...darkness being a all time fav. this beer doesn't hang w darkness but has a really nice silky stouty body w a nice hopping.
