a bottle generously and unexpectedly shared by a new friend. i had no idea these guys even did wild beer, so this was a cool one to drink on. the brett drie is a classic at this point, and its on display in the aroma right away here funky and fruity, with strong suggestions of cantaloupe, pineapple, and citrus. it also has a must about it, like wet basementy, not as crisp and bright as some of these are, but i think its a cool expression of the brett strain. the flavor lines up with the nose pretty well. there is a lot of wet musty weirdness about this, and its not as dry as other brett beers, but the fruitiness is awesome, with the melon and some white wine notes, and then a grassy aged sort of hop character in the end. it has a nice grainy body and a lot of carbonation, and tastes quite mature. its not quite as dynamic and complex as i anticipated it being, but its a cool profile of this strain and a unique brew nevertheless. i was stoked to have this shared with me out of the blue, and am not interested in getting my hands on some more wild stuff from these guys! this still seems to climbing on its cellar arc...

Bottle to tulip, the appearance was a semi-hazy golden to copper color with some light pink hues towards the center. Light foamy head that dissipated at a fairly quick pace. Not much lace. The aroma had some peach/apricot sweet to tart qualities, light earthy zest, white pepper, grassy hop quality and sour lemon rind. The flavor blended the tart to the sour allowing the sweet portion to make a gentle approach to the backbone. Seemed like some strawberries tried to make a light presence. Aftertaste was sour and tart with a clean sort berry-like structure going on right before the finish. The palate was medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Sour harshness was there but not imbedding. Overall, that’s a pretty nice sour ale that isn’t overly done with excessive pucker.

as an admitted other half fan boy I do often get burned on the bottles. $15 for a ltitle less than an ounce more beer than the cans...and the cans are typically grand slam juice bombs. every now and again you find a true winner in the bottles though...and while this is not necessarily a true winner, it is hitting the spot at the moment! really light and soft melon candy. the brett is in a really excellent spot right now and makes the beer so candied...it is a delight. mix that w the fantastic warm weather and easter and we've got a winner. I'd say drink em if you got em since it is drinking so well at the moment. nice one from other half in the bottle.

Picked this up a while back at an Other Half release and had it in my queue down in my basement after that. Finally got a chance to enjoy this during these dogs days and boy, was it ever funky! The fermentation and yeast really shone through in the taste of this as it was one of the more unique beers that I've had in quite some time!
Loved the pour to this as the beer had a moderately bright raisin hue to it and lush head that looked like whipped egg whites. The aroma was solid as the nuanced woody aspect and funky yeast could be detected from quite a ways. Both of those were in the taste along with some light cherry tartness, Lambic-like sourness, and berry juiciness underneath everything. Lots of wood here as well which gave this good depth and the carbonation was lively enough to keep the flavors from lingering too long. This was just light enough to be truly wild as the foam seen could be detected from start to finish and was indicative of the overall tone of this beer.
Had there been any more booze, it would have been a detraction but it was spot-on as it added to the slightly mysterious nature of this beer. A solid brew that was fun to drink and a welcome change from the stronger and more hoppy beers that put Other Half on the map. I wish they'd release this again!

375ml capped bottle into a Surly teku. Shared with schen9303.
Nose is pineapple, citrus zest, Brett and a light lemon tartness. Mellow but enjoyable. Beer opens Brett with a big sweetness. Almost yogurty in character. Foam, cobwebs and woodiness towards the middle with an end of yeast and spice. Awkward. Big Brett notes but the lacto tartness is almost completely missing and this one's overly sweet. Feel is aggressive and light with lots of bubbles. Spot on for the style with a bone dry finish.
Everything but the flavor on this beer is nice. But the flavor profile is so strange that it just doesn't work. Hard pass on this.
