Medium-pale gold color, with that New England haze, tall ivory head leaves ample lace draped behind... Aromas reminiscent of citrusy fruits and herbal pine... On the taste, more of the same, earthy fruits and danker pine, with brighter impressions suggestive of lemon and berry... Smooth and light, well-carbonated, clean-finishing... 8.5% abv, 2/9/17 canning...

This is like a better version of Heady Topper. Good stuff. Simcoe shines thru with nice bitterness with a really dry finish. Good beer this beer would be legendary if it came out 5 years ago

Canned 2/9/17 (Boot Grease). Enjoyed 2/15/17. Received in a trade.

Look: Hazy, Brownish-Orange. Nice foam that sticks. (8/10)
Smell: Pine, Bark, Mold, Melon, Grapefruit. (8/10)
Taste: All flavors carry over from smell. More savory than sweet, Moldy, Yeast, Oranges, Tangerine, Grapefruit. (8/10)
Feel: Waxy, Vaseline, Resinous, Pine on the aftertaste. (8/10)
Overall: This is like a weak Heady Topper. A very solid beer from OH. Not as fruity as they have been lately, nice change of pace. (8/10)

Really hazy peach color with off-white head. Aroma is fresh and grassy, quite dank as well, with dill and chives. Taste starts sweet with some caramelised onion, slightly resiny, dank hops, medium bitterness on the finish. Medium body, really smooth and soft on the palate. A great DIPA with a very well hidden ABV and a really classic but nice hop profile.

Pours a hazy pale yellow gold in color with two fingers of fluffy white head with good retention and decent lacing. The first whiff is resiny pine, after the head dissipates i get pineapple and some indistinct tropical fruits. Taste has pine notes that meld with pineapple, mango, cantaloupe, and bubblegum notes; individually these are great flavors but cumulatively they just don't play well together. good mouthfeel, medium body and moderate carbonation. overall a decent beer but the flavors just didn't work for me.

Pours merky yellow gold with a nice white head that fade slowly and hangs on the sides of the snifter with great lacing. Aroma is pineapple, lemon and piney hops. Taste grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, orange, pineapple and pine with a light bitter finish. Another great one from Other Half. Look forward to more from them.

Definitely a solid DIPA. HAzy/cloudy pour but very tasty. Mouthfeel is probably the best characteristic, not to thin not to heavy, just right. Feels more like a session IPA. Hides the 8.4% well.

Canned 12/16/2016, pours cloudy yellow gold color with a foamy 1 finger white head that left spotty foamy lacing which slid down slowly. Another fine looking Other Half beer.

Smells of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, guava, toasted grains, caramel, starfruit, peppery spices and biscuit. Piney hops show up late in the game and add nice dynamics to the nose.

Tastes as good as it smells with grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, orange, pineapple, zesty piney hops, toasted wheat bread, toasted grains, caramel, starfruit, peppery spices and biscuit. The bitterness kicks in and let's the Simcoe cut through everything and add tons of flavor.

Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with a light fizzy carbonation, an average/medium body and a bitter finish that trails off fruity with a hoppy sweetness. Other Half has not disappointed me yet.

Im not a huge simcoe fan so I guess I wasn't expecting much. This is a good single hop IPA that is crafted fairly well as expected by Other Half. The flavor is pretty simplistic and didn't really make an impression on my taste buds. I tasted bitter, muted, nonspecific fruit (little bit of citrus peel?) . Overall, not an IPA I would have again.

Picked this up at the brewery when it was released, as the beer had a date of 10/6 on the bottom of the can with "Not a session" written above it. I like beers with this hop in it and this one wasn't an exception as it was incredibly smooth and had a hidden alcoholic presence.

This had a nice pour to it as the beer had a cloudy, melon hue, fluffy head, and left wonderful rings of lacing as I worked my way through it. Lots of melon, dank rind, and Simcoe hops in the nose as the taste also contained all of those. Lots of onion here too as this was quite sharp but had a grassy undertone to it. Not a lot of sweetness or carbonation here but there was a dank rind that emerged more as this warmed up. The yeast strain found in Other Half's beers was here as well as the aftertaste featured the hops and a wonderful, slick resin that coated my mouth once this went down.

The potency here only was felt via a slight warming effect, as the flavors were allowed to be felt to full effect. While not Other Half's best beer, this was yet another solid offering from them that didn't have a single flaw in it. Worth a go as the Simcoe nearly goes on forever, long after the final suds have gone down!

L: Dark cloudy amber
S: Smells piny, orange rind, a little bubble gum
T: Bubble gum taste. Very bitter/dank taste on the tongue
F: Though it was cloudy it had a crisp fell to it.

16 oz can. Hazy yellow pour, thigh sudsy head fades slowly, lots of lace. The aroma and taste if this brew are of light malt sweetness, lemony grapefruit peel and grassy hops, touch of Dank weediness. Plenty weedy in the finish. Slippery feel, glides down. Good stuff!

On-draught @ the brewery (12oz for $7 USD). 8.50% ABV. The cramped crowded space of the taproom forced me to be brief with my notes.

The onion of since hops may put off some drinkers, but it's subtle enough in this beer that it really works. Some floral character and vague fruit provide the rest of the hop flavour (along with an unexpected yoghurty note), and any bitterness is neatly balanced out by pale malt sweetness.

Depth of flavour is quite wanting. Complexity is limited, but then it is a single hop imperial IPA.

Mouthfeel is creamy, coating, smooth, and wet. Well-carbonated, medium-bodied, unrefreshing. Not juicy, fresh, or soft in feel.

Drinkable enjoyable fare for a single hop imperial IPA, and its odd yoghurty flavour is compelling enough. Worth trying if you dig simcoe, but I can't see this dazzling discerning drinkers.

The beer comes in a medium to deep gold, medium plus haze.

The aroma hits of mango, orange slices, pineapple, some candy sweetness, green pine.

The flavor follows with a really soft delicated tropical fruit smoothie with a light biscuity malt in the middle, onto mint, pine, and a bit of metallic dank quality on the aftertaste. The beer is so delicate and soft, without exploding on the palate too heavy on juicy fruit qualities upfront. It is minimal and fruity, and grows and grows in flavor onto the finish.

Can shared by Lunch. Thanks Paul.

Hazy yellow body with a soapy, white head that leaves a sheet of lacing cascading down the glass. Aromas of floral melon, cantaloupe, grapefruit. Lovely flavor as well, following the scent. Terrific.

I really had no/low expectations for this brew. I guess I have never been blown away by anything Simcoe centric, but this beer was a super pleasant surprise. really great hop bite that is juicy and fruity w a great piney bitter to it at first that dissipate's into big pineapple notes. really makes the hop shine in a good way. soft subtle fruitiness throughput that bursts as it opens up as well. one of the better iipas I have had from other half.

and of course a huge thanks to Anthony for picking this up for me at the release a few days ago.
