Had this beer in my basement for God knows how long and thought that today would be a great day to get rid of it! It's cold out, I'm alone, and this was enough to warm me up in every sense. Sure, it's sweet, sticky, and strong, but a beer like this *should* be without feeling contrived or artificial and that's exactly what this was. No bones about it!
Nice pour to this with a dark hue, a head like chocolate mousse, and a wonderful slickness to everything. Lovely look to it that remained once it settled down, as the lacing was spotty but voluminous at the same time. Tons of maple on the nose with some caramel, milk chocolate, and bourbon underneath it as the taste was closer to raspberry brandy more than anything else. Incredibly smooth, the sweetness and potency of it was still there from the get-go as this never let up throughout my session. Only a faint stickiness remained at the end as there were hints of a bourbon barrel-aging that may or may not have happened. A creamy, medium mouthfeel made everything that much better since the flavors were allowed to emerge as this warmed up, as the body of this beer complemented them.
To be sure, this was strong and one bottle was enough for a session. By the end, I was warmed up nicely without feeling like I had to call it a day. This was everything that a good Stout should be - potent, filling, and hearty, but with so much tender warmth that you'd still want another once the last drop was poured out. Awesome stuff that deserves another go-around, even if it was during the warmer months!

Pours a deep black color with a creamy khaki head with great retention. Smells of sweet maple, bourbon, wet oak, chocolate, caramel. Tastes of sweet maple, woody oak, bourbon, chocolate, melted caramel. Sweet finish with more maple linger. Medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and finish, abv hidden well. Outstanding maple stout, great balance of maple sweetness and bourbon.
