Got this at the same release that the regular Crooked Crops was released. This one was a bit smoother and not as full as it seemed like there were more hops and soft fruit flavors in play here. This almost came off like a Hefeweizen with heft as it was darker and stronger than a wheat beer of that nature.
Not a bad pour to this as the beer was a muted apricot with tons of foamy lacing on top of the liquid. A good ring of rocky bubbles lingered at the top of my teku glass as I worked my way through this. Wheat, earthy grain, and some mild passion fruit were in the nose as the taste was relatively soft as well. Pretty full but with hints of stone fruit, candied sugar, and booze, there was a lot going on here to decipher. The earthiness stood out to me but because the hop profile was different, there really wasn't any burn to take away from the mouthfeel of this beer. Not too carbonated, most of the bubbles came through initially and not as this warmed up.
Couldn't read the date or anything else written on the bottom of the can but that didn't matter as the amount of alcohol in here was just right. A bit more chewy and cloying than a typical Other Half beer, this was fun to drink but not in large quantities. This was dry and indeed, needed a chaser of water after all was said and done...

16 oz can poured into an Other Half pint glass. Collaboration with Danish gypsy brewer Mikkeller's San Diego branch. Wheat IPA double dry-hopped with Southern Passion and Galaxy. Canned on 5/11/17 with Free The Hops inscribed, which I am willinig to bet it is directed towards the recent news of AB-InBev cutting off South African hops to the rest of the industry. That being said, this could be the last craft beer made with South African hops. Thank you Sheik for dragging this back from Brooklyn!
L - hazy straw in color, cloudy body, two finger head and frothy lacing
S - peach and mango notes, grassy notes as well. Wheat gives off a hefeweizen like aroma without the German yeast, but a hint of booze, but very floral and pleasant
T - tastes matches the description, more of a dry rind/zest taste than juice. More mouthfeel than taste
F - full bodied feel, boozy, medium low on the hop resin
O - The beer itself is not too impressive (probably because I do have a spoiled palate), however the beer is historic in terms of beer business and craft brewing. There are plenty of hops around, but imagine if Constellation bought out an entire industry of grapes from a renowned vineyard region. Hops are just like wine grapes in that where ever they are grown, the climate effects the product or are even indigious to that region. Solid beer by Other Half and Mikkeller, always a privelege to try their beers. Cheers!
