Picked this up when it was released, even though I'm not a huge fan of this style of beer. Thankfully, this was hopped enough to nearly make it an "Pale Lager" though I would have rather it be stronger and more like an IPL. As it was, it went down easily but was a bit odd since the flavors and yeast didn't quite mesh 100% well with each other...

Typical golden pour to this that was pretty clear and radiant, with the expected amount of head to top it off. Very little lacing was left on the side of my teku glass, in keeping in line with the consistency of this beer. Lots of body here because of the oats as the melon and citrus flavors were muted in the nose and a bit odd to the taste. Probably the fullest example of this style that I've had in quite some time (if ever), this had some dough and bit to it because of the oats. A bit of tropical fruit, pine, and earthy dankness rounded it out but a beer with those attributes should have different malt than this did...

This was light when it came to the booze and had it been heavy, it would have made this even that more different. It was alright to have this once but the lingering dankness and wet grass that stuck around were a bit odd, to go along with the lager-type mouthfeel that persisted. Worth a go once and a welcome change from my normal fare!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Says Pilsener on the can but this is anything but. Hopping beers to the max works for some styles if done well. Anything with a lager yeast just doesn't lend itself to dry hopping, double dry hopping, "crushing" with hops etc. Everything is okay with this beer except the taste; citra hops and lager yeast I'm afraid is a match made in mediocre homebrewing.

summer of pils, eh? didn't they try that last yr? oh well...here we are...pretty tasty pols at that. nice hop to it...wish it was ddh'ed, but life comes with its limits I suppose. all in all a fairly good pils, but still a pils. very workable.4th of July beverage though.

 

 

 

 

 

A: pours a clean (though somewhat hazy for a pils) straw yellow with a sudsy, one finger head, quickly dissipating
S: immediate tropical fruit, citrus and pineapple, some banana and general pineyness, very pleasant, though there is a slight cheesiness I don’t love (this keeps the nose from a 4 to me)
T: super clean, with muted suggestions of tropical fruit, and a pleasant resinous bite, definitely a hop forward beer, though not especially bitter, it’s very good, though I can’t really say it is all that reminiscent of a pilsner any more than any other pale beer is
M: dry and effervescent, but not overly so
O: a very well executed beer, albeit not one that feels very true to style for my money, for me, american hops in a pilsner destroy all images of a pilsner in said beer generally speaking, that being said, if it’s true that lager is more about tasting the specific ingredients than how they interact with the yeast, then i suppose in it’s own way it’s true to form. A good beer, very enjoyable

A hoppy pilsner in the new school style, not for the traditionalist, so lucky i am not one.

Bit cloudy looking versus traditional clearer pils. Big smell of juicy tropical hops of of it. Good clean flavour and nice bitter finish. Very smashable although i am not the biggest fan of that word.

Spraking comparatively this is a step up from Sixpoint Crisp.
