Went to the weekday release for this beer as I liked the idea behind it. Yes, I was filmed by the camera crew that was there but never made it into the final segment that aired on The Today Show. With that being said, this was one of Other Half's more underwhelming beers although it was easily crushable and nearly impossible to dislike because of it's low alcoholic content and mellow flavor profile.
The pour to this was decent as the beer had a cloudy, straw hue to it with plenty of head to top it off. Lots of lacing was left behind from the thick ring on top, all the way down to the bottom of my teku glass. Lots of melon from the Galaxy hops as the Kohatu was tough to nail down in the nose or the taste. This almost felt like a lager because of how smooth it was, the hue, and the aftertaste that lacked hops and bitterness, but this left behind a faint slickness and mild hints of stone fruit that served as a reminder that this was indeed a Pale Ale.
Most of them don't get as light as this and for the summer, this would be a great choice. Love the idea behind this beer and the logo for the service men and women of this country on the label, right below that of Other Half's. Canned on 7/13, this held up well and was a good change from their usual fare. Worth a go once-around for our troops, if nothing else!

Davidsoul once again with the freshie hookup. as a HUGE fan of Carson Daly I could not wait to try this....ok, that part is not true...I don't mind Carson and actually was.into his late night show for a bit when I had bad insomnia problems years before having kids, but I digress...
murky pale straw yellow with a frothy cap and streaky chunks of lace...nose is decidedly a pale ale with a YUGEat backbone peppered with some light resinous hop. first sip.screams of melon followed by a wash of earthy malts. crisp, refreshing, but DEFINITELY a pale ale. and an earthy one at that....major departure for the greatest city in all of the land's premiere hoppy beer producer. but differentcan be cool, right? surely hipsters who embrace pbr can get behind this frothy throwback pale, right?
