Brewed with our friend Luke from Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto. In addition to pink guava, hibiscus and lime zest we crushed this beer with Citra and Kohatu hops.

DIPA collab between Other Half in Brooklyn and Bellwoods in Toronto...
9/28/17 canning... I'm assuming the "highballer" part is a reference to the mixed drink, which can take many forms, wherein a liquor is mixed with something non-alcoholic in a tall glass over ice... This particular 8.2% abv beer features the inclusion of pink guava, hibiscus and lime zest, and Citra and Kohatu hops...
Pours the color and appearance of pink grapefruit juice, but with a couple of fingers of bubbly head on top; sparse lacing left behind...
Not bad - certainly zesty enough, with ample citrus, floral, and herbal components, it does indeed remind me of elements which may be present in a mixed drink... Moderately bitter, mildly sweet, and a medium-light-body with ample carbonation... Refreshing and crisp, tangy and bright... A nice beer, and one of maybe 3 beers I've had that sought to mimic some characteristics of a mixed drink, but maybe that's not quite what I'm usually looking for in a beer...

Picked this up when it was released at the brewery, finally getting around to it tonight. This was *amazing* to see from a tap as it beat out the City Slickers for the most appealing hue that I've ever seen from an Other Half beer but from a can, it fell just a bit short of that level.
Lovely pour to this as the beer was subtly bright with a mildly radiant apricot hue that wasn't quite like anything I ever saw before. Tons of floral notes in the nose including lavender, jasmine, and hibiscus. This was echoed in the taste as the guava and lime took a back seat to the natural feel of this. Smooth as could be, this felt like a field in spring that was liquefied and fermented (much to my delight!). The plushness was evident here from the creamy mouthfeel to the tropical notes that complemented everything else that was going on here. The lime zest could be felt as a citrus pith that lingered long after everything went down, but wasn't strong enough to overpower the unique and appealing taste of this.
The amount of alcohol was spot-on and had I kept another can of this around, I would have crushed that too after this one. A lovely beer, this served as a reminder of what Kohatu hops are capable of. Worth seeking out on tap for the hue alone but either way, this beer's a winner that is as enjoyable as much as it's unique!
