Mid sized bottle...from the source in Brooklyn, NY

Another big, bold, overly flavorful Imperial stout from the wizards at OH.

Pours dark and thick, like motor oil actually. Dark mocha cap.

Fudge brownie on the sniff.

On the palate its the usual over the top assortment of chocolate pastry stout delights, death by chocolate cake, bourbon, and yes a whiff of vanilla in the finish. Delicious...stout lovers rejoice, world class creation.....savor every sip of this nectar.

Traded for this since I was away from this area for most of November. Loved the can version of this and this was certainly an interesting take with the barrel-aging and vanilla factored in. Strong, it was but at the same time, it was amazingly smooth and drinkable; which lots of Stouts can't claim to be. On a frigid night such as this, this was perfect for sipping!

Without a doubt, the pour was the best aspect of this beer - velvety, inviting, and topped with a light mocha head, the liquid was not a motor oil by any means. It looked a perfect as a Stout could be and the lacing down the side of my Teku glass was as voluminous as any that I've ever seen, from any type of beer. Cognac, bitter chocolate, vanilla, and booze filled the slightly muted nose with all of those coming through in the taste as well. Baker's chocolate and a bourbon-like stickiness were found in the taste as this really grew on me during my session.

Of course, this beer was a beast but had less powder, chocolate, lactose, and booze than many other American Double / Imperial Stouts that I've had. The aftertaste was like an oil slick combined with brown sugary sweetness, as this had me warning more. Amazingly smooth for the style and worthy of being sold in a big bottle!

Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger tan foamy head that faded slowly and left minimal spotty lacing.

Smells of merlot, roasted grains, smoked malt, blackberry, soy sauce, brown sugar, maple syrup and sweet malty notes that all tie together and seem like chocolate milk. Very malty and complex.

Tastes like it smells chocolate cake, merlot, roasted grains, cognac, smoked malt, soy sauce, brown sugar, maple syrup, brownie batter and sweet malty notes that hides the 11.5% ABV perfectly with the sweet and malty combo. The booze and sweetness compliment each other well and mix in the smokey aspects.

Mouthfeel is velvety smooth with a touch of bitterness, sweet malty notes, soy sauce and a fine combo of booze, chocolate and burnt coffee grinds. A great craft experience that's very tasty and very different.
