Collaboration with J. Wakefield Brewing
Florida Plates 2 Imperial Spelt Cream IPA with Passion Fruit and Peach (8.0%) brewed in collaboration with J. Wakefield Brewing is a riff on Florida Plates but with passion fruit instead of pineapple and we switched the hop bill up to be Citra and Galaxy.

Traded for this beer a while ago, as I enjoyed the original iteration of this. This one was much juicier and exotic but still has had a Florida feel to it as the peach and passionfruit stood out above everything else. No, this didn't look, smell, or feel like a typical beer but once in a while, it's nice to have something atypical from the norm from a respected brewer, and this would certainly fit that bill!
This had a nice pour to it as the juicy, dank liquid slickly came out of the can and filled my can up. A moderate head and sufficient lacing coated the inside of my pint glass as I worked my way through this although this was never terribly thick or creamy. Such a wonderful aroma of peach, passionfruit, pineapple, tropical fruit, and star fruit in the nose as the taste was just as inviting as it's smell. Citrus juice, fruit sweetness, and an exotic tropical undertone really made this shine as it was unlike anything that I've ever had before.
The booze was nearly undetectable as this came across more like a juice than a beer. Dated 3/15/18 on the bottom of the can with "COCKTAIL FRUIT" written underneath that, this felt more like melon, white grape, cherry, and pineapple, than any brew from the east or west coast that I've ever reviewed on here. If that's your thing, then this would be up your alley. Quite enjoyable but this was just as much a novelty as a beer to me, which was one of the few times that I've felt that way while reviewing something on here!

Typical good looks from an Other Half IPA, but the star of the show is the aroma, with pungent peach and passionfruit mixing with the citrus hops and malty backbone. This can is a few months old but still extremely flavorful and quite a unique spin on an IPA. The sweetness hid the ABV masterfully.

Great fruity smell. Very little in the way of carbonation. Thought that was odd. Tastes like a juice more than a beer in a way. However I enjoyed it. Especially for the alc content I thought it tasted great.

Another in person swap from the other day...whoa this is a weird bird. All sorts of non beery flavors...
Passionfruit, yep.
Peach, yep.
Beer, not so sure.
Definitely different but just because you can make a beer taste like this...not sure if you should. Not that this is bad, just odd. Odd in an inviting way. I kinda like it. Not the kind of thing you'd throw back one after the other of
but maybe for some ppl it is like that?
