This is one of the best non-BA Stouts I ever had. It pours a pitch-black appearance with an exquisite aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Thick mouthfeel with tastes of chocolate, vanilla, wood and exotic aromatic (but not too overwhelming) coffee.

Picked this up at Other Half a while ago, finally getting around to this tonight. Like the other Double Sunset, this one was an exceptional beer that came out of nowhere. If you can get around it's potency, this was so wondrous to behold as it's smoothness, complexity, and richness were head and shoulders above nearly everything else that I've been able to get my hands on. Unfair? Maybe, but when you're able to get your hands on this so easily, that doesn't matter as the level of craftsmanship here is above nearly everything else that I've been able to obtain!

This had a solid pour to it as the liquid was dark, silky, and topped of with a mocha head that quickly dissipated. Hardly any lacing was seen as I worked my way through this as this was thicker than I would have been lead to believe. Tons of brandy, booze, chocolate, tart raspberry, and vanilla in the nose as this came across as quite rich and potent. All of those were present in the taste as the milk chocolate sweetness dominated over everything else. Sugary sweetness, lactose, hints of brandy, raspberry, and cocoa powder entered the mix as this warmed up with the coffee serving as the unifying factor underneath all of these notes. Mildly roasted and gritty, the milk and lactose edges won out as the smooth sweetness ultimately took a hold, with the recessed carbonation allowing the flavors to fully emerge.

To be fair, this was quite strong and even though the alcohol wasn't easily discernible, it was here and made itself known by the time I finished this off. The Mudhouse coffee gave this a slightly exotic feel but overall, this was beer that nearly felt as familiar as a local cup of joe. Smooth and rich, this was a beer that was easily accessible but hard to put down, even after a night of imbibing. Nice job all around on this one!

this beer is phenomental. thick, velvety, and oh so smooth. robust coffee roast explodes on the nose, some chocolately aromas as well. this wonderfully complex almost fruity coffee flavor persists on the palate, but is complimented by a thick chewy vanilla flavor, some bittersweet, and milk chocolate. a decadent treat!

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and no lacing.

This smells like roasted malt and roasted coffee, lactose, dark chocolate, and vanilla.

This isn't quite as bold or complex as the Brazil version of this beer, but it's still quite tasty. There's a lot of the traditional type of coffee flavors- chocolate and roast. There's also a bit of molasses and vanilla, too. The lactose just makes this super creamy and delicious.

This is thick, creamy, and super rich, with a decent level of drinkability.

Other Half is just killing it with their stout game lately. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but whatever they changed, they need to keep doing that.

it seems almost unfair that this is as good as it is, like, these guys already are approaching a monopoly in the best hazy ipa types, and now this?! come on! feeling super lucky to have been able to make it to the little other half event trve put on this weekend and get to drink these, this one was among the many highlights. its huge for one, shiny near black dark brown with a ton of viscosity and an mocha colored head that looks like it came from a nitro tap, long legs on the edges of the glass and a beautiful visual richness. aroma is heavy coffee, a darker roast with a lot of minerals and earthiness to it, as well as an obvious dark chocolate note that would collectively make this pretty bitter if it werent for the lactose and vanilla, which dont necessarily sweeten it up too much or make it desserty, but definitely serve to balance the heaviest elements of the coffee and the dark grain in the smell and the taste. its so creamy and decadent, its amazing! milks chocolate now with the lactose, all the complexity and vanilla character of a whiskey barrel without the oak, and none of the booziness i expected in something this big. amazing depth here, brown sugar and molasses with the roast, and a coffee profile thats there from start to finish, earthy and warming and very high end. this is absurdly good, as good as the style gets really, nothing to add, take away, or change. they absolutely have this one dialed. one of the best other half beers i have ever had! what a treat!

Acquired from brewery on release day, poured vigorously into snifter.

L: foam was lacking, dissipated quickly, nicely blended.
S: Tart, fruity, sour, bitter
T: Rich and smooth coffee mixed nicely with chocolate, and whipped cream. burnt caramel as it warms.
F: Very smooth and easily drinkable. Earthy, syrupy as it warms.
O: The best Stout I've had from OH yet. very nicely blended, lacking of any negative feel as I usually get from OH stouts. Very enjoyable and even better as it warms.
