Vibrant, cloudy orange with a half-finger of yellow-tinted head. Thick rings of lacing.
Mango, orange, pine and a little peppery herbal note in the nose.
There’s a flash of fruit up front in the taste, quickly replaced by a lightly piney, almost nutty flavor. There’s a kiss of alcohol as well.
Creamy feel with strong carbonation.
Another fine NEIPA from these guys, but not as mind-blowing as some of their others.

From a 16oz can, dated 11/02/18. Served in a tulip.
Pours a moderately hazy sort of tangerine-gold with a finger of soapy, bubbly suds. Retention is just meh, leaving a wispy film, a thin collar and some feeble, slippery lacing. Cool colour, though.
A faint nose of some kind of sweet citrus. Smells sugary, like candy.
Taste is a bit of a fruity, malty, muddled mess and I'm not sure I can untangle what I'm tasting. Predominantly bitter-sour-ish orange - what's that, bergamot? - lime, and slightly 'off' grapefruit juice, limeade, tacky berry, stale biscuit, a little pineapple and a lot of pine sap. Earthy and dry with the bitterness dial set at less than two-fifths. Drying grapefruit peel and pine sap build on the palette.
Feel is slickly juicy, medium bodied and aggressively carbonated.
Overall, a mixed bag. So far as I'm aware, this is my first exposure to kohatu and, what with the funky simcoe cryo, I found the flavour profile a bit weird. Still, there's nothing wrong with the beer and, once my taste buds acclimated, I enjoyed it just fine. I'd certainly drink it again but it might not be the first thing I pulled out of the fridge.

16 oz can, 11/02/18 stamped on the bottom.
Hazed up NEIPA via OH, leaves nice looking super fine sheeting.
Smooth and creamy feel.
Soft tropical fruit sniff.
Delicious, densley flavorful and dank with more tropical fruit notes. Ripe pineapple, mango, lime all coming to mind.
Well worth seeking out.

Pours a hazy orange with two fingers of white head.
Smells of citrus, orange and grapefruit.
Taste is citrus forward, getting notes of peach so well. Dank resinous notes linger. Nice Citra burps follow.
The smooth silkiness is this beer's best feature to me. Heavy side of medium bodied with ample carbonation.
Overall a tasty one that hides that 8% really well.
