Missed this beer's release last November as I was on the road but I picked this up last weekend and was eager to give it a go. I enjoyed the other iterations of this and even though it wasn't quite on the level that they were, I enjoyed this and how smooth and surprisingly easy it was to quaff!
Dark pour to this as it was nearly headless, as there was *very* little mocha foam that settled above the liquid. There wasn't much of any lacing left except for a lingering bubble here and there as the consistency was thinner than I expected. Lots of roasted coconut, mild nuttiness, and brandy in the muted nose as the taste contained all of those, but on a subtle level. A lactose feel emerged in the mouthfeel as I never got the impression that this had much coffee in it. A hint of dark chocolate gave this a nice richness as it softly went down, and complemented the sweetness quite nicely!
Yes, this was a strong beer but like many of Other Half's Stouts that I've had recently, it didn't come across as such. Light in carbonation and full of silkiness, I'm not a huge coconut fan but if it's a bit roasted and not too sweet, then I hand tolerate it and that's how it was in this beer. Not among Other Half's best, this was still a nice example of the style that's much more approachable than most others are...

Drank from a 1 pt. 0.9 fl. oz. bottle purchased at Other Half Brewing Co., Brooklyn, NY
Served in a teku
The beer poured a thick, dark brown/black color and was capped by a tight, fluffy, two-finger tall, saddle brown head that faded to a thick, frothy collar. Tiny streaks and small droplets of lacing cascaded down the sides of the glass.
The aroma was very coffee and coconut forward. Medium roast coffee to be precise. Big toasted coconut notes. Fairly sweet. Roasted and caramel malts were also apparent. Rich and robust. Bittersweet chocolate was also noticeable. The coconut really intensified as the beer warmed. Subtle bourbon notes were also detectable.
The flavor profile was similar to the nose but perhaps even more complex. Coffee notes again came through big time. Really bright and lively, lighter roast coffee. Huge coconut presence. Loads of chocolate fudge in the center. Some milky lactose notes too. Touch of vanilla. There was a strong roasted and caramel malt presence as well. Quite sweet overall but not excessively so. Smooth bourbon notes appeared on the finish. For a 13.5% ABV beer, the alcohol was remarkably well hidden.
Outstanding mouthfeel. Super rich, creamy and slick. Full bodied for the style. The liquid contained a medium bubbled, moderate effervescence that fluffed up beautifully on the palate.
This is an outstanding imperial stout that tasted like an Almond Joy that had been dipped in bourbon spiked coffee. The coconut notes were kickin’, as was the coffee, and the bourbon contributed some complexity without adding much booziness. Other Half Brewing have been making incredible hoppy beers for years, and their recent stouts are perhaps even more impressive.

Mid sized bottle, purchased at the brewery a week or so ago.
Typical Imperial stout kinda look.
Ample cafe au lait on the nose, with some sweet (coconut?) encountered as wel.
Another yummy, over the top delicious stout from OH...huge ABV nowhere to be found...soft coffee, fudge brownie and again a hint of sweet on the back side...wonderful stuff...so worth seeking out...go get some.
