Bottle at share, thanks to Steve. Black oily pour, silky feel, small ring of beige head.Same roasty chocolaty goodness as the regular release, a bit more bitter perhaps because of the coffee.

Roasty, earthy coffee is a little acidic, which is amplified by some booze. It has a Sunday Brunch sort of smoky cinnamon like character to it with a nice, medium-thick body that finishes semi-dry.

Picked this up when it was released a few weeks back, eagerly anticipating this. While not on the level of Other Half's other recent bottle releases, I enjoyed this and appreciated how smooth it was. The flavor was a bit muted and unmemorable but with plenty of coffee, nuts, and chocolate here, there was plenty to like as this easily went down!
Not a bad pour to this as the beer had the appearance of liquid chocolate with plenty of head to top it off, as that looked and felt like a light, whipped mousse. That had big bubbles as it quickly settled leaving random, soapy spots behind that didn't form any rings at all. Lots of dark nuts, bitter and milk chocolate, and mild coffee in the muted nose that seemed to have some grinds and powder in it as well. This grittiness lingered in the taste as it counterbalanced the softer and silkier mouthfeel that hit me up-front. A bit of milk, lactose, and booze could be felt as this warmed up but never did this feel too sweet, artificial, or strong, and that's where the strength of this beer was when all was said and done...
No doubt that this was a beast but if such a thing were possible, this was as unassuming and understated as a brew of that type could be. i'm not a huge fan of almond or hazelnuts or any nuts that are dark but in this instance, there was just enough of it to be felt without being too predominant. Worth the wait but not one of Other Half's hallmark offerings - thankfully, this was worthy of a 5th Anniversary release and something that warmed me up on this dreary day!
