Love this beer and anything like it from Other Half, as it's certainly a "dream". Smooth, creamy, and enjoyable, this had an all-star lineup of hops but the end result wasn't anything particularly better or worse than what I was expecting or accustomed to. If you like yours beers to be smooth, sweet, and dank, then you've certainly found your match with this one!
Dated 2/14/19 with nothing written above or below it, this had an appearance that was typical of Other Half's more popular offerings. Golden, muted, and uniform in hue, there was enough cloudiness to it as this beer wasn't completely dank. Topped off with a moderate head and ringed lacing that bled down to the next layer, there was plenty of body to be had here. Lots of tangerine, bubble gum, sugar, and cream in the nose as the taste was bit more harsh than the aroma would have indicated. Grass and moderate dankness entered the fray as I took my first sips with this beer finishing much stronger than it's initial impression would have indicated.
Plenty of booze in this one as this felt much more of an American Imperial IPA than one from this neck of the woods. Not quite the same as the other iteration of this that I had, this was a solid beer and on par with Other Half's other offerings, but not quite as dreamy as I expected. Would love to give the rest of them a go!

Canned on 2/14/19 opened on 2/23/19
Straw gold with a solid white haze, opaque all the way. Milky gold!
A smooth, even white foam cover is adequate. A very minimal thin layet of coverage keeps it up with minimal lacing.
Oat-cream IPA. That usually = pure bliss for me! The three hops, hydra head monster of hops: Mosiac, Idaho7 and Galaxy has enough fire power to put down Godzilla. The nose has mostly sour citrus, dank grainy golden wheat, milky herbs and pithy fruits roaming all around the stank. Pineapple and grapefruit swimming in milk is what I'm smelling.
The taste is earthy bitter, sour fruits, sour milk that seems to dominate. Not nearly as smooth or silky as I had expected this to be. The three hop combo is intense, but a bit off, and strange. Grapefruit and orange rind style hoppy bitterness leads to a rather thin, but crisp mouthfeel. Bitter, metallic style bitterness makes it so the oats and cream are minimal in affect, at best. The hop complexity is good, but just a bit too bitter in the finish for the New England style.
Overall, its just a curiosity. Cream and oats usually means, a silky-smooth mouthfeel and full blown tropical delight from the three hops. But, damn if it doesn't come across as mostly bitter, tangy with a long and sour finish.
My score is heavily weighted on the fact that I've had some AMzaZING versions of the Oat/cream Dipa styles...the fact that this falls so short of my expectations.....seriously hurts the overall vibe of the Daydream Layers impact upon my head.
