Collaboration with The Veil Brewing Co.

Imperial Berry Topped Waffle Berliner Weisse with our fruit lovin’ friends The Veil is a Berliner conditioned on blackberries, raspberries, vanilla, maple and waffles. Like Big Brekkie, this breakfast selection was concocted during our epic NZ hop selection trip with Matt Tarpey.

Once again, this was a beer from Other Half that I picked up and sat on for a while as it ended up in my massive queue. Unlike this other, this was different and fun as I had never seen a beer with this hue or flavor profile to it. Yes, it was a Berliner Weisse at heart but it came across as much a Fruit / Vegetable beer or even a dessert beer as this was incredibly sweet at the same time. Nothing felt artificial about this even although it didn't quite come across as a breakfast offering to me!

Such an awesome, blackberry plum pour to this as it was delightful to watch it come out of the can. Dark and murky, there wasn't a lot of head to top it off and even less lacing left behind as any suds quickly fell down the side of my pint glass. Tons of berries in this - juicy and tart - while the vanilla was Tahitian in nature. Couldn't taste the waffles so much as I could feel them in this beer's body as it was sweet, a bit sticky, and plenty filling. A bit of whipped cream could be found here too as the hops and bitterness took a back seat to the juicy stickiness that hit me up-front and lasted for the duration.

Enough booze was in here and it was a bit noticeable although it wasn't a deterrent from everything else that was going on. Canned on 5/30/19 with "CONTAINS LACTOSE" written underneath it, this was playful in every way - down to it's breakfast menu label! One of Other Half's more unique offerings!

L - 1-finger fizzy pink head recedes rapidly, leaving behind an opaque maroon body.

S - tons of mixed berry, vanilla, maple. Really smells like waffles.

T - follows the nose. Mildly tart mixed berry, vanilla, maple syrup. No bitterness. Low sweetness. No booziness.

F - medium-full body with medium carb.

O - damn tasty.

Sweet berlin weisse that pours red due to the plethora of blackberries and raspberries. Also tastes of vanilla and some maple as well. Solid beer and enjoyable to drink.
