Thick, syrupy and viscous with heavy chocolate flavor. Vanilla and mild coconut accents. I'm not getting any pineapple.

Bottle. Tan head. Black color.
Pastry stout like thickness. Everything works well with this beer. I love the pineapple and marshmallow/vanilla combination. Thick and fudgy. Cocoa. A touch sweet, a touch roasted, and it almost has a barrel like flavor to it. This is a winner.

Picked this up on Saturday as it was the only bottle dropped at Other Half this past weekend. Intrigued by the name and ingredients that were in this and indeed, this tasted like a pineapple upside-down cake. If you like your beers strong, fruity, and sweet, this fit that bill as it was easy to quaff when it came to the booze but had quite a bit of sugars in it at the same time!
Of course, the pour was dark with plenty of silky mocha head topping this off. Plenty of thick lacing was left behind as this beer's consistency was quite impressive, in all aspects. Tons of banana, pineapple, marshmallow, and coconut in the nose as the taste exploded with all of those. The taste had even *more* pineapple with loads of sweetness, lightly burnt sugar, and milk sugar in it as this had to be the closest thing to liquid cake that I've ever had in a bottle. Brownie batter came in as this warmed up with hints of milk chocolate and vanilla bean to round things out.
Sure, this had booze with but if you're having this as a nightcap, who would even care? Yeah, between this and the beers in the We've Been Out There in Orbit series that have been recently released, this was full of body, heft, and sweetness but the end result was something that tasted exactly as it sounded and was just as pleasing. Nice job by both brewers on this one, as it has me awaiting the next bottle that I'll lug home on the subway!
