Crispy Waves...crispy...must be potato chip crispness to it or lots of sharp hops or crackery malt that snaps.
Nope, not even close.
Sure, this was a Helles Lager and it was certainly a lager at heart as there was plenty of lager yeast and German hops in this but if you were expecting something bright, chewy, and crispy, you'd probably end up disappointed with this as it was just something relatively generic and nearly mindless to kick back with, as was the case on this end.
As to be expected, this had a golden pour to it with enough fine haze floating in it to give it a bit more radiance. Aside from a thin and inconsistent ring a bit below the top of my pint glass, hardly any lacing could be seen. That was because of the thinness of this beer and the lack of head once I poured it out and let it settle. Loads of grass, German hops, and Czech malt in this as it finished clean, but never gave me enough to chew on or felt bright enough to fully draw me in.
Sure, the booze was light as this was a session beer at heart although the back end was a bit more sticky that I would have expected from a German Helles. More bread and less sulfur would have been preferred, even from a beer without anything written on the bottom of the can. This was a decent session beer that was worth a go once, just as a relaxer between heavier offerings.

This beer was not worth the 1/100000000th of life it took of my liver. Expected a helles. A helles it was not. Malt bomb more reminiscent of an amber ale than a crispy lager. Hell, crispy doesn’t even belong in the name. Wasn’t expecting a top notch lager from these guys, but definitely expected more than this. Wish this on tap so I didn’t have to blow $15 for a four pack drain pour. Save your liver. Live another day.

L - 2-finger creamy white head atop a translucent yellow body.
S - grass, caramel.
T - grassy hops with caramel malt. Smooth and relatively clean. Low bitterness. Low sweetness. Low booziness.
F - medium-light body with high carb.
O - tasty, not quite crispy though.
