Pours rich and dark, velvety chocolate. In the glass, it is black, with crimson highlights accentuated by the bulbousness of a Pretentious Beer Glass Company Malti Snifter. A dark, golden-amber head is fine and dense, though only a quarter of an inch, and short-lived. Some spotty lace rides above voluptuous legs.
Imagine cherry, chocolate liquour and add light peanut, throw in a dash of alcohol fumes.
Okay, this is a WOW beer. The flavor clearly delivers on the promise from the aroma. Chocolate switches places with cherries and the peanuts are more subtle and exquisite. The balance is sweeter than it is bitter, and it is all good. A long, luscious finish is mild and keeps developing. Warmth aids the flavor, bringing out vanilla and more definition of the above flavors. Very late in the session, I distinctly tasted Snickers Bar and smelled coconut.
This is dense and slick, with a soft texture. Unctuous comes to mind. Alcohol is prominent, yet far below expectation and the carbonation is soft and modest. Some residual sugars.
Monkish Peanuts is hands down the best peanut beer I have tried yet. This is not just a desert beer, and I enjoyed it over Labor Day Weekend listening to the quiet. I imagine it would pair well with a cigar, but it is so good on its own, why risk it.

Bottle to snifter.
LOOK: Motor oil, no head.
AROMA: peanut butter is the star. Actually, I smell it as roasted peanuts. Touch of Vanilla.
TASTE: Molasses, vanilla, lighter on peanut butter, but its there. Super sweet.
FEEL: thick, full body, no carbonation.
Very interesting, and pretty tasty. Aroma is the star. Finding it tough to make it through these 7 oz. I poured.

Picked this up this past week over at Other Half. No, this wasn't a collaboration but it was an ode to Monkish and a play on peanuts as the ones depicted on the label were of the packing sort. If you do like your Stouts with that flavor, this had a beautiful amount of it present as the taste was there but not enough to be overpowering or out of proportion...
Of course, the pour to this was dark with just a hint of light seeping in around the edges. Not a lot of head topped this off as it thinned out rapidly and left for the duration as the lacing left behind was nearly nonexistent. Loads of creamy peanut butter in the nose with some cacao nibs, brandy sweetness, and sugary booze in the mix as the taste was just as slick and rich. Cake mix, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract came through in the taste as this was filling and smooth sipper...
...and that wasn't even taking the alcohol into consideration. It's here and sensually present but it was on par with the other notes that emerged as this fully warmed up. Sweet and nutty at the same time, this was another dessert beer that was worthy of being in Other Half's lineup. Not their best but there was plenty to enjoy here, regardless...
