Had the first iteration of this not too long ago and this was pretty similar to that, down to the label. The former was supposed to be an old-school beer and this one was too as it wasn't quite like the hazy IPA's that everyone in this neck of the woods seems to be cranking out these days. If you like more pine, hops, and clarity to your beer, then this would be up your alley!
The pour to this was not too bad as the liquid was a turbid apricot with a good amount of light seeping in around the edges. A good amount of fine, dark sediment was floating in this but amazingly, none of it settled at the bottom of the liquid after my sips. Lots of pine, outdoor funk, exotic fruit, and dank berry juice in the nose as the taste was just as full of those along with some Caramel from the malt and Amber as this was not a typical American IPA. A moderate, but lingering, hop bitterness lingered throughout with a deep citrus rind and earthiness that was reminiscent of Sierra Nevada, Rogue, or Lagunitas as this had a feel from the left coast, down to it's waxy finish and presence of resin in the mouthfeel.
A good amount of booze was here and the lack of overt carbonation allowed the flavors to linger for the duration of my time with this. No date to this and nothing was written on the bottom of the can as this held up relatively well over time but wasn't impressive in any of it's aspects. A citrus and minty tang could be felt once this went down as the deep, pine forest feel of this beer was enough to tie those and everything else in here together. Sure, you could grab a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and do better than this but if you can't obtain on, this would suffice as a fun and local alternative. Was hoping for a bit more from this, only because it was an Other Half offering!

Appearance: A nice bubble show reveals a two finger head and the slightly hazy copper colored liquid; good retention and splashy lacing
Smell: Caramel malt and piney hop tones; there is a hint of blueberry, as well
Taste: A big malt base filled with caramel opens the profile, with piney flavors building through the middle; both aspects merge (along with some blueberry), after the swallow and linger through the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet
Overall: A time machine indeed but the blueberry adds a twist (some Mosaic and Idaho 7 were added to old school hops); maltier than I like, however
Thanks, devoured by vermin, for the opportunity
