Strawberry Cheesecake Berliner Weisse

This was another beer from Other Half that I bought and put into my queue. Thankfully, it didn't take a while to get around to as it held up well over the last four months. Like some of their other beers of this type, this was a bit of a gimmick but was on par with what I've come to expect from Other Half. If you wanted cheesecake in a can, this did deliver but it wasn't quite the same as what I'd get at a diner here in Jersey!

Not an impressive pour to this as the liquid was a muted, milky goldenrod with a moderate head topping it off. No lacing was left behind as this liquid was a thinner than I would have liked. Tons of strawberry juice, yeast, earthy patch, and cheesecake sweetness in the nose as the taste was a bit too tart for my liking. Strawberry puree, slick fruit, cream cheese slickness, and some sticky syrup were in here as this was unlike any Berliner Weisse that I've ever had.

There was a bit too much alcohol in this and not enough carbonation, which only made this that much more of an anomaly. Canned on 12/4/19 with "CHEESECAKE FACTORY" written underneath it, this was on par with something that I'd have at that chain restaurant. Yes, it hit the spot but it felt a bit too contrived and mass-produced. Fun to have once or for a dessert, more graham cracker, lightness, and fresh fruit would have made this truly great...

 

 

 

 

 

Kind of a let down I taste strawberry definitely not super fruity but, I don’t taste any of the other ingredients. This beer is just OK definitely not worth the high price.
