Had this rating set under the wrong variant for this beer. Tried on 02/02/2020 at the Side Project Invitational.

Poured from a bottle into a small glass taster
L: pours a pretty thick oily black brown, with a dark brown head that fades after a minute or so. Somewhat noisy if that makes sense, loud carbonation and crackly head. Nice abv appropriate legs
S: fairly sweet, lots of chocolate plus some very ripe banana. Fudge, brownies, bananas, banana bread, chocolate chips. Get more barrel as it warms, raisins. Not sure re: coconut
T: really rich, decadent banana bread. Very impressed how much chocolate I get in this for something without nibs etc. added. Banana bread with chocolate chips, honestly almost batter. Good amount of bourbon barrel, especially as it’s warmed. Raisins, oak, coconut as well but the chocolate/banana notes overpowered. Pretty impressed how close it gets to cloying yet pulls back just in time. Some abv heat but not nearly what I’d expect from 16%
F: medium carbonation, fairly thick mouthfeel, hefty
O: quite decadent, surprisingly well balanced, delivers on pretty much all aspects. A taster or two of this is all I need, but one of the better OH stouts I’ve had (especially of late!)

This one pours a very dark black color, oily and inky looking, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells fantastic - like banana ice cream, creamy almond, chocolate fudge, rich toasted coconut, oak, and spicy bourbon.
This is certainly extremely sweet, as any stout from Other Half is expected to be these days. However, there is definitely some barrel here - with toasted oak and spicy spirit, and it helps balance out the heavy duty sweetness of all of the flavor additions. The banana is a standout here - candied, creamy, and sweet, with the almond and coconut providing an excellent creamy and nutty sweet character. There's tons of melted milk chocolate fudge, too.
This is thick and syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation. It's not boozy in the slighest, but it definitely sits heavy on the palate.
I've been a little bit meh on the idea of Other Half stouts lately - but this pulled me fully back in.
