A thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of melons. Taste is melons, some peaches and oranges, mild bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Welcome to the opening salvo in/of New New Half of the Other Glarus Beer Sunday (Week 781)! Perhaps "salvo" is not the most appropriate term, given the events of this past Friday night. Sheesh. Is it CANy wonder that I eschew such limited releases, saving them for last in The CANQuest (tm)? It was just such a remark that led to my cutting ties with Tired Hands when they took umbrage at my unwillingness to stand in line for their beers. Ha! This, as well as everything for today, came to me CANtesy of my H NIght Trivia Team, Bert & Dana, not to be CANfused with Bert & Harry of Piels fame.
From the CAN: "India Pale Ale".
I am going out on a limb here & taking a wild guess that everything about this beer with be driven by Motueka hops. For those not in the know, Motueka is a hops strain from New Zealand. How do I know? Roundabout Brewery brewer Steve Sloane's wife is a Kiwi & they were proudly among the first to use this strain as an homage to her homeland when it first became available.
I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent, only to get a spritz across my fingers! 8=O It was due to yet CANother brimful craft CAN. 8=) It is always a pleasant surprise when this happens, much akin to a baker's dozen. To celebrate, I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was full-on Motueka with its characteristic melonball fruitiness, like CANtaloupe & honeydew! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was melonballs, man! Ballin', yo! It was not your typical Southern Hemisphere tropical fruitiness, but instead, CANtaloupe & honeydew with some peach thrown in for good measure. Yum! I felt like a born-again Motueka virgin while drinking this one! It was as if I had never had Motueka before. It is quite possible that Sloane may have used other hops with it & this one was first time with it as a single-hop. Hmm. Finish was semi-dry, but right on the cusp of semi-sweet. The fruitiness was unabating & had it been the usual tropical suspects, I might not have enjoyed it as much as I did. YMMV.
