This was another beer brewed up in Rochester that I bought at Other Half's original location in Brooklyn. Love the idea behind the Chroma beers, as they only feature one hop, and the label was quite fabulous in a minimalist way as well. I haven't had a lot of brews with Cashmere in them but this was predominant here as the dry, saccharine nature of this beer was readily apparent from the get-go.
The pour to this was nice - straw, translucent, and uniform in hue with a quiet radiance to it. Enough head topped this off as the lacing left behind was in the form of a few well-defined, but spaced-out, rings that were deep and webbed enough. Loads of fruity pebbles, sticky sugar, deep forest, and wild citrus in the nose as the taste had lemon drop and dry, chalky lime to round this flavor out. Puckering, tart, and slickly bright, this was a Cashmere beer through and through as there was a lot of soft sugary pick-me-up to be had here with a basic malt and both a dank melon and fresh breath piney feel to the aftertaste.
Not a lot of booze to this as the hops and associated notes did most of the proverbial talking. Canned on 1/20something of this year, this held up well over the last two months and change as there wasn't any sediment to be seen as a slick, dank grassy feeling took hold of me once all of this finally went down. The Chroma beers are a welcome change from Other Half's usual fare, although nearly everything they brew is top-notch in it's respective style. This was seemingly simple up front with lots of depth emerging as this fully warmed up as it left me wanting more beers of this type!

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a moderately hazy light orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
Usually brewery descriptions are kind of flowery and whack - but OH saying these Cashmere hops bring fruity pebbles flavors is basically spot-on. There's also melon, grapefruit, tangerine, and grassiness on the nose.
Cashmere hops are kind of wild and cool - with that candied fruitiness, with lemon candy, tangerine, grassy bitterness, and just a hint of cereal-like grainy malt character.
This is light bodied, and clean, with a pretty solid level of drinkability, due to how soft it is.
OH IPAs are basically all the same thing these days. The Chroma series it at least a nice change-up from the usual DDH 8%+ thing you always see.
