Collaboration with Monkish Brewing Co.
We decided to bring back JFK2LAX but with the OH Daydream treatment (oats and lactose). “In the Clouds” version is a robust TRIPLE IPA with more oats, milk sugar, and a huge hopping of Motueka, Citra, Simcoe.

Not retired. Canned 8/22/22 in Brooklyn.
L: Pours a very hazy dark yellow with a fluffy white head with big bubbles that stick around. Thin but solid lacing.
S: Aromas of pink grapefruit, especially, and lemon meringue pie.
T: Follows aromas up front, then segues to tropical fruit. Finishes just a bit dry but not bitter.
F: Incredibly soft mouthfeel, possibly due to the oats.
O: An outstanding NETIPA. Incredible look, great aroma, outstanding taste, and superb mouthfeel. The ABV is absolutely hidden until after this terrific beer is finished.

What else needs to be said? Both of these breweries may be the best at what they do on their respective coasts. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the original iterations of this when they came out a few years ago but this one was much more recent and just as highly anticipated. No, this wasn't one of the best beers that I've ever had but nevertheless, it was a solid brew with a ton to love about it as it didn't stay in my pint glass for very long!
Of course, this had a pour that was on part with what I was accustomed to from both of these guys. A muted golden liquid that was nicely dank and uniformly cloudy, a nice head topped this off as it quietly settled down. Lots of rocky, bubbly lacing was left behind as some semblance of rings could be seen in the midst of everything. Bright lime, sunny apricot and tropical fruit, and oats were in the nose as the taste burst forth with all of those, and so much more. Dewy grass, heavy forest, tangerine, and sweet cream all came through in the taste as this was so multifaceted from the first sip, down to the last. Dank in nature but easy on the palate, there was so much going on but everything melded well together as this was a smooth sipper with a light carbonation and nearly invisible malt presence.
The same could be said for the alcohol, as it was nearly impossible to discern in taste or feel - even after I finished this off as there wasn't much of it on my breath. Canned on 1/29/20 with "BIRDS TAKE FLIGHT" written underneath that, it's a beer like this that reminds me of how something can be greater than the sum of it's parts. The addition of lactose and milk sugar smoothed this out as they were the sweet, sticky, cloying aftertaste that held everything else together. Those also complemented the hops while ensuring that the end result felt like something quite short of a Triple IPA, as this brew left me eagerly awaiting to see what would be next between these two titans!
