Very Good
Notes: Our hazy East Coast IPA with loads of oats and hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Centennial gets the High Density Hop Charge treatment. Packed with a ridiculous amount of Citra flavor and aroma from our Citra Cryo and Incognito and perfectly balanced with our hand picked Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo and Centennial. Fruity, juicy, with a delicious creamy body and slight bitter finish.

I haven't been to Other Half as much since all this crap broke out but when I was in Brooklyn recently, I picked this up because any of the other Green City beers that I had in the past were quite enjoyable. This one was too, as it was quite "green", but it didn't exceed my expectations at all.

Like many of their other beers, this was golden, hazy, but didn't look unfiltered. It was uniform in hue, without any sediment in it, and has enough head topping it off. Not a lot of lacing left behind as this was a bit thin with the bubbles not holding on for the duration. Lots of oats, weed, white chocolate, and deep forest in the nose as the taste was smooth and had a good amount of dank, tropical hops in it. Melon, pineapple, and vegetable soup emerged in the taste once this warmed up as this turned out to be heavy for something that was seemingly light up front.

The amount of alcohol in this was light as the resin and oil from the hops were allowed to figuratively and literally shine. Having a light amount of carbonation made this enjoyable and easy to savor although it didn't burst forward with any particular flavor. Canned on 5/4, this didn't have any overpowering burn or bitterness but there was enough to enjoy here, just like nearly every other beer from Other Half that I've had over the years. Lovers of Green City will readily savor this!

Can (thanks to DC) to snifter.

No too educated about the HDHC process, but we'll see how this is.

LOOK: light yellow, hazy, creamy head, very good retention.
AROMA: grass, sea breeze, light pine, light citrus.
TASTE: all flavors above, melded equally throughout the sip.
FEEL: very smooth, good carbonation. drinks very easy.

About on par with the regular Green City as best as I can remember. Maybe this is smoother. I am thinking that this HDHC hops infusion somehow dissolves the hops into the beer without giving it the extra leafy feel. Similar to the Cryo-hops. Maybe?.

Whatever it is, it's Well Done by Other half again as usual.

Poured from a can (5.4.20!) into a teku

L: hazy yellow/orange, on the darker cloudy side. Thick white head leaving very thick white lacing on the glass as it subsides. There as I sip as well

S: those green city notes I like, punched up a notch. Slightly sweet, rich tropical fruit - more of that overripe character than the standard version. Lots of citrus (orange, grapefruit), mango, passionfruit, papaya, cantaloupe

T: hm. working to unpack what I get here, the flavor seems to come all at once without much nuance to it. As I sip get more of this spicy/piney note, attribute that to the Centennial/Simcoe. Now that’s it’s warmed a bit the fruit from the nose (grapefruit, mango, some pineapple I hadn’t gotten before) comes through. I’d say the taste follows the nose at first but is quickly overtaken by the more earthy/bitter hop aspects. Nice and bitter medium finish - while still miles from this level, makes me think of having an old NInkasi/Stone style IPA

F: very smooth, easy to drink, medium carbonation

O: torn on this one - the nose is quite great, but the taste leaves be confused/thinking the whole HDHC process has them trying to do too much. Now that it’s warmed I’m getting more of that fruit on the swallow, and I like the bitter/piney finish but overall come away feeling a bit torn. That said in a vacuum this is a stellar beer, and why I’m still saying 4 i.e. outstanding. Have three more cans, may revisit this after those

A 1 pint can, canned on 4th May 2020. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.

Appearance: A hazy yellowish orange colour with a big three finger white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.

Aroma: Citrusy orange and grapefruit, citrus zest, mango and melon.

Taste: Lightly sweet and bitter, melon, citrus zest and rind, papaya, notes of mango, and a tinge of peppery spiciness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, creamy, light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: Easy drinking and balanced IPA. Would love to try it next to a regular Green City or even a DDH version.
