Collaboration with Monkish Brewing
We should have been in New Zealand selecting hops, we should have been in LA hanging out and brewing up some magic. Of course that was all upended but it can't stop us from making some fire anyway. This takes the LAX2JFK/JFK2LAX base and builds upon the existing Citra and Simcoe hop schedule with Cashmere and the hop we were most excited to be picking while in NZ, Riwaka.

Yeah, I could probably do without any of these iterations in the future. I scored it pretty well, to be honest, but I'm not interested in an entire 4-pack. Just like its Monkish sidekick, it's a bit too boozy for my taste. Syrupy sweet, high heat, stinky feet. Oh lawwwd. Lemon zest, grapefruit peel, pulpy orange, hints of valencia, bergamot, and crushed mint leaf. Taste follows. Is this an IPA or marmalade? Wait a second... is this the real life, or just a fantasy? Wrong beer, Hunter. Mama!

Pour looks like natural orange juice with a white head and a fair amount of lacing.
Nose is like is mango, melon, pine resin, tangerine and sweetness.
Mouth is dank and pine resin upfront with melon, mango and tangerine in the back. Finishing with hop bitterness but not out of control. High AVB is pretty well hidden.

CANNED 05/22/20, 'SEATS TAKEN'.
Orange juice pour; a golden orange hue with large amounts of frothy white head that rise two about two fingers above the body of the beer. As it settles, complex patterns of lace cling to the inside of the glass as it settles.
The nose is rich and full of a little of everything. Hit immediately with an abundance of tropical mango and tangerine, It finishes with a good amount of resiny pine and apricot on the tail.
Big, boozy, and wonderful on the palate. There's an underlying sweetness when it first hits your tongue, however that dank, resiny pine presence really takes over and packs a potent, bitter punch. What featured more of the Citra/Simcoe on the nose is now really characterizing the Cashmere/Riwaka side of the hop bill on the palate. After it settles, some notes of apricot, melon, and grapefruit linger and help to compliment the bitterness that was initially imparted.

Poured from a can (22May2020) into a Teku
L: darker/dirtier orange juice color, with a very thick white head. Awesome lacing that stuck around the entire time, quite thick
S: rich and overripe fruit - passionfruit, mango, melon. Good amount of citrus as well, orange and lime. Sweet, a bit of alcohol but nothing serious (and appropriate for the abv)
T: follows the nose, that general rich tropical flavor from OH beers these days. Mango and citrus, with this creamy middle and finish I like (was more pronounced in OH's Super Ripe, amazing there). Sweet but not overly so, a bit of abv warming after the finish but no burn. Same with the hops, maybe a slight bit of appropriate bitterness/earthiness but no green character
F: smooth, creamy body. medium carbonation, very high quality NEIPA
O: excellent TIPA from OH, avoids green issues I've encountered recently with freshly canned beers. Flavor while great I found to be more single-note "tropical" than anything complex, creaminess I like
