From a 16oz can, dated 7/17/20. Served in an IPA glass.
Pours a somewhat milky-appearing grapefruit juice-colour with two fingers of soft and lathery creamy foam. Retention is excellent, leaving a heavy merengue-like cap and thick sheets of lacing.
Nose is soft and malty, cupcakes, lemon laundry softener, berry juice.
Taste is unexpectedly very much like the aroma, for better and worse, because it includes the lemon-scented laundry softener. Lemony and somewhat grainy, papaya, sour berries and white grape juice. Creamy malty, low bitterness, slight sour booze taste at the finish.
Feel is creamy smooth and mouth coating, medium bodied and just adequately carbonated.
Overall, pretty good but some off flavours. The 8.2% abv is very much in evidence here, in both the taste and the feel. The brewer’s description promised a ‘lean’ malt base, but I found it substantial, creamy and rich - not that there’s anything wrong with that; just saying.
