A year?!?!??? It seems like yesterday that the second Other Half brewery opened up in Rochester and when this came out, I wanted to give it a go. The anniversary releases in Brooklyn were always wild and during these times, it wasn't quite like that when I picked this up a few weeks back. Thankfully, this was nearly on par with those beers as it was varied, full of hops, and typical fare for those of us who love these guys!
The pour to this was tried and true other Half - golden, hazy, and uniform in hue. Enough head topped it off as it was soft and shiny while taking it's time to settle down. An interesting aroma to this as there was lots of tangerine, cream, fruit cocktail, pineapple, and dank hops with the taste following suit. Slick, subtly bitter, and underlying sweet, this got more and more dank as it warmed up as a quiet sense of vegetables came in like with one of the Broccoli beers, as loads of dewy pine forest reinforced that feel. So much going on here as the flavors and heft were in line, with a light carbonation staying play throughout.
Yeah, this was a beast but as I've said so many times with these guys, who's to notice? A feel of weed and bitter chocolate tied everything in together as the heft, tang, and outdoorsy mouthfeel grew on me and stayed on my breath and palate long after the last sip went down. Canned on 7/21 with "DH FLX" written underneath that, this might have been too strong for some for but aficionados of Other Half like me, this was fulfilling and worthy of being an anniversary beer. Easily worth taking the time to enjoy!
