Our favorite vehicle for serving you Citra gets another new twist. V1 brought you Incognito. Now V2 brings you another experiment in flavor with Phantasm powder. Derived from NZ Sauvignon Blanc grape skins this brings big thiol character to the beer which is a big player amongst the compounds that drive big tropical flavor in beer.

Can from the brewery in Brooklyn. Pours a murky tan golden yellow with a finger of white head that sticks around, not particularly pungent but smell is orange hard candy, mild orange zest, sweet caramel, hints of orange blossom and honey, taste is pithy orange flesh, hints of honey and orange juice concentrate, good amount of lingering grapefruit/musty grape skin bitterness on the finish, feel is full bodied, creamy, prickly carbonation. Wish I had a regular ACE to compare, but this one tastes has intense citrus and nice bitterness, zesty citrus hard candy.

Picked this up last week at Other Half, as I hadn't been there in quite a while. Had the Southern Hemisphere take of Stacks on Stacks before this as this beer picked up where that left off. Lots of grape and tropical notes here to go along with the tangy and slick feel of the Citra Hops as this was easily enjoyable and went down effortlessly from the get-go!

This had a nice apricot hue to it as plenty of light seeped through the liquid with a nice, quietly sufficient head topping it off. Not a lot of lacing was left behind once the bubbles settled as the aroma picked up where the appearance left off. Loads of turbid, citrus pith, aged grape skins, and deeply dank tropical fruit filled the fun and exotic nose as the flavors just burst forth in the taste. A bit of wheat, plushness , and exotic, floral, and enlightening hops put this over the proverbial edge as this didn't last very long during my session. Smooth with recessed malt and hardly any carbonation, this was one of the best experimental beers that I've ever had as it went down easily and still left me guessing down to the last sip.

Yes, this was strong and had a decent amount of heft to it but I never tasted the alcohol nor felt it on my breath as I only felt some of it's potency near the end of my session. Canned on 9/24 with "VINUM MUSTUM" (I need to brush up on my Latin) written underneath it, this was an experimental beer with a deeply dank and outdoorsy feel in the aftertaste that left me wanting more and appreciating the Phantasm for all it was worth. Even after all of this time, a quality beer like this from Other Half still has my thankful that I'm able to obtain something of this sort so easily!
