Picked this up recently at Other Half to round out an order that I made. This was brewed in D.C. as it tasted just as typical that I've had over the years from their original Brooklyn location. While this didn't break any new ground with me, it was soft and plush enough to be easily enjoyed as the flavors present were just a bit exotic while feeling comfortably familiar at the same time.
This had a cloudy and golden hue to it that was light in color but uniformly hazy and opaque. Plenty of head topped this off as the lacing left behind was in the form of a evenly thick ring near the top of my pint glass, with a fairly copious amount of spots, splotches, and hints of rings below that. Tons of celery, white wine, and exotic tropical fruit in the muted nose as the taste contained a bit more of those. Some jack fruit and hops from the Vic Secret and Belma emerged once this fully warmed up as this had an oddly appealing taste to it that wasn't like what I was accustomed to from Other Half. Plenty slick and juicy, some deep forest, weed, and cabbage emerged once this fully warmed up as this was plenty strong, but just as fun at the same time!
This was one of the few beers from these guys that felt stronger than it was in actuality. The malt had enough bread to it and the carbonation was light, but just enough to keep this from being too heavy-handed. Canned on 12/28, this was as fresh as could be without any sediment in the liquid or at the bottom once I got to the end of this. This may not appeal to everyone but fans of Other Half will enjoy the deviations in the flavor while feeling accustomed to it's familiar feel and comfortingly sticky aftertaste.
