Collaboration with Alvarado Street Brewery
Any way you slice it this DIPA made with the fine folk at Alvarado Street is incredible. We brewed this great beer on a Cali swing several years ago and we stoked to take a shot at it.

Picked this up a few weeks back, with a bunch of other collaborations that Other Half released right before their 7th Anniversary. Loved the label and was hoping that this would be like their other slice releases, as it was just as dank and heavy as I imagined. The alcohol was nicely hidden here as this was a bit slick and greasy, without being overly fruity or sweet at the same time.
The pour to this was a muted goldenrod with a nice head topping it off, as the bubbles kept rising to the top of the foam and bursting at the surface. Not a huge amount of lacing was left behind as the webbing was quite thin in nature, as if it looked like a long molecule from a chemistry class. Lots of earthy hops, deep tropical fruits, pineapple, and star fruit in the nose as the taste was just as heavy with a good amount of stone fruit, dough, melon rind and sticky pith leftover after each sip. Quite full in body, the carbonation was light as there was some citrus and lime tang in the back with a smooth slickness coating my mouth once this fully went down.
Hard to detect the alcohol in the taste although this certainly warmed me up by the time I finished it off. The tangy, acrid feel from the pink grapefruit and tangerine was this beer's lasting impression on me as it left me wanting another slice before I called it a night. Once again, nothing was written on the bottom of the can as this needed a date, although it was fresh and consumed less than a month after being up for sale. I expect that from Other Half, as I'm otherwise always impressed with what I have from them - even with something as unmemorable and relaxing as this.

Pours cloudy orange color with a 1 finger thick foamy off-white head that faded slowly and left really good lacing coating the sides. Smells of tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lime, apricot, coriander, wheat bread, caramel, wet cardboard and sour fruit. It’s mostly citrusy with earthy notes and trailing spices. A slight metallic aroma comes with every few whiffs.
Tastes of orange juice, guava, pineapple, tart red grapefruit, dry citrus hops, star fruit, fruity candy like Razzles, caramel, graham cracker and a mix of sweet grains and honeydew melon as it fades. Decent balance and mild bitterness help make it easy to drink.
