We usually only re-brew our Anniversary IPAs for 2 years before we move on but this is perhaps the favorite of all we have done so far so we had to treat it differently. We decided to let FLX take a crack at it and kill it off at the same time. Try this one for the last time, it won't be back for our 8th anniversary. Hopped with Citra, Galaxy, Enigma, El Dorado, Citra Cryo and a dash of Mosaic.

Traded for this a few weeks back as I was unable to obtain this when it was released around the time of Other Half's anniversary. Had the original 4th Anniversary and this was just as good as it was quite a surprise to see them re-release this. For some reason, this felt like vintage Other Half as it didn't last for very long upon opening!
This had a typical hazy, golden hue that I've come to expect from these guys over the years as it was topped off by plenty of frothy head that was plenty bubbly at the surface. Most of the lacing was concentrated around the top of my teku glass as there were only scattered splotches below that. Loads of grass, candied orange, lime, and sugar were in the nose as the taste was equally slick, fruity, hoppy, and dank without being overly heavy in any of those aspects. Tons of tangy citrus, pineapple, turbid peach, heavy celery, and vegetables, and crystalline sugar was present in the taste as this was a wondrously complex beer that drew upon the original while taking it to a whole new, and different, level. Plenty sweet, slick, layered, and sticky, this was tied together by a light creaminess that kept any particular aspect from coming across as too heavy, as the carbonation assisted in keeping this as easygoing as humanly possible for a beer of this heft.
That's not to say that booze wasn't here - it was present on the back side of this along the vegetable soup aftertaste that the initially sweet impression of this beer eventually gave way to. Dated 1/26 with "MAYBE NEXT YEAR" written below that, this was a beer that was hard to obtain and even harder to figure out. Regardless of that, this was immensely enjoyable and a throwback to what made me fall in love with Other Half many moons ago. So glad to get my hands on this as this was a clear winner, and a reminder of why I love beer and all that it's capable of being.

Poured from a can (26Jan2021) into a Teku
L: pours a slightly darker totally opaque orange with a moderate white head that fades after a couple minutes leaving a decent layer of foam on the surface. Some chunky lacing left with each sip
S: excellent fruit forward nose, citrusy notes come through first for me followed by some richer tropical notes. Get a mix of orange/tangerine followed by a pineapple note and a mix of mango/papaya. There’s a creamy sweetness there as well. Not much in terms of bitterness beyond those citrus notes, abv not present
T: follows the nose well, tons of fruit on this creamy slightly sweet base. Citrus notes lead, a bit more bitter than the nose suggests little grapefruit-esque. Mango, papaya. Almost creamy peanut butter sweetness? No abv heat on this, at least compared to the 7th anniversary I had right before
F: medium+ body, medium carbonation, pretty smooth and creamy
O: to be honest I don’t recall 4th that well (either 5th or 6th anniversary re-brews, didn’t have the original). People love it, versions I had don’t stand out in my mind - this is very delicious, happy to have a few cans, but I wouldn’t chase it. Excellent OH TIPA, enjoy it a lot but would say it misses that certain something for me to call it world class
