Pours cloudy gold color with a 2 finger thick creamy off-white colored head that faded slowly and left really nice lacing coating the glass, with rings as it went down. There was barely any aroma, with very faint grapefruit, some orange peel and lemon zest. Even when I stuck my nose it the glass I could not get much more except earthy notes and mild spices.

Tastes of tangerine, grapefruit, lime, orange peel, clementine, tea leaf, floral hops, peppery spices, biscuit and piney notes. Some grainy flavors in the finish, which has metallic accents as it fades off with orange juice. Mild carbonation and a medium bitterness level help hide the ABV. I’ve had so many really good OH IPA’s over the past year that this one seemed below average.

Let's face it - last year sucked.

This year isn't going much better for a lot of us.

And I love Other Half.

With that being said, this was one of the few beers that I've ever bought from there that I'd categorize as disappointing. No, it's not a drain pour and the worst from them is still serviceable and drinkable but there wasn't a lot about this that I found memorable or noteworthy.

It did have a decent pour however, as the golden hue was quietly radiant and opaque with plenty of bubbly head topping it off. Loads of lacing was left behind as much of it was in the form of a thick ring near the top of my pint glass. There were a few flecks of dark sediment in the liquid as well, but it was nothing compared to many beers that I've had recently. Lots of lemon, tangy citrus, and cream in the subdued nose as the taste had some dank vegetables that really emerged once this fully warmed up. Slick and light, the Citra gave way to the Vic Secret and Simcoe in the back as this beer didn't quite know what it wanted to be.

The carbonation was fine and so was the body and like most Other Half beers, the alcohol was quite subdued as I hardly noticed it throughout my time. For some reason, this didn't click with me as it had an Idaho 7-like aftertaste that was countered by hints of sprite and tangerine ice cream. Dated 1/25 on the bottom of the can, I can't believe that it's been 321 days, or that this would just be one of the few beers from Other Half that I probably wouldn't buy a second time around...

Poured from a can (25Jan2021) into a Teku

L: pours a slightly dull completely opaque yellow orange with a very thick white head. Leaves some chunky lacing as it fades, a bit with each sip as well

S: nose on this is great, got it right as I cracked the can with nice waves as I poured. Rich tropical notes, getting a mix of mango/pineapple/papaya, with a bit of citrusy bitterness mix of orange/grapefruit. There’s a slightly sweet aroma lurking in the background, but it’s more rich tropical fruit and that slight bitterness. As it’s warmed I get a bit of this vegetal note that initially was only coming through on the swallow

T: following the nose well, this excellent mango/pineapple flavor leads followed closely by light orange/grapefruit bitterness that lingers through the medium+ finish. There’s a slightly vegetal/grassy note that I’m enjoying, not a hop burn type flavor something more earthy and intentional (at least that’s how it reads to me!). Almost becomes a bit more gummy candy as I have the dregs of the can (poured into the glass). Very full flavored considering the abv (7.2% isn’t low mind you, but feel OH can be hit or miss in the IPA category)

F: medium+ carbonation, medium+ body, gets close to what I’d call creamy mouthfeel but backs away, very drinkable

O: very nice IPA from OH - nice tropical flavors up front, a bit of bitterness and mild earthy notes adding depth to a very drinkable brew
