The first beer in a new NYC beer series. We were running low on Citra, Simcoe and Cashmere hops to make this beer, so we popped on down to Canal Street and found some Citro, Samcoe and Kashmere for a great price. They look legit.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 8/2/23, had 9/18/23.

Pours a hazy yellow, with a two inch head of creamy foam and a decent amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of orange, pineapple, light lychee. Smells somewhat dank. Flavors of orange, pineapple, malt, some lychee, light grapefruit, a light hop bitterness. Tastes lightly dank and grassy. Smooth, a very good lighter body, well carbonated.

Really good orange and pineapple in both the aroma and flavor, but there’s just not a whole lot beyond that. Certainly enjoyable and well done, but nothing about it excites.

Can at OH DC. Pale golden hazy color. White head. Bitter and pine hops. Grassy. Some citrus. Grapefruit and orange peel. Easy drinking. Hop powder. Nothing super crazy, but definitely enjoyable.

Hopes start high that this might be a hopfest, with these three hop varieties included. A pour from a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug reveals a very opaque blond-amber brew with an enduring white head. It's receding unevenly, so hopes begin that this doesn't have too much wheat in the recipe. A hoppy aroma brings a nicely intricate dose with notes that include citrus and pine. The body is supple enough to carry a good load of hops pretty well. As is often the case with good Imperial IPAs, the first hit is on the sweet side, then the hops take over. The start is a little more citrusy at first, bringing a little tartness to the mix. Then the bitterness shines through and establishes that this is a solid IIPA. That phase runs a little resinous before turning even more bitter. Then, there is lingering bitterness as the taste and mouthfeel turn dry. By now, the glass lacing can be described as just about average. That won't matter to hop heads, because this has to be one big treat for them. The 8% ABV appears only as a compliment to the overall drinking experience. This is a multi-level hoppy treat, delivered in a pleasant medium. Early expectations are fulfilled.
