From a 16oz can, dated 08/13/21. Served in a spiegelau-style IPA glass.
Pours opaque, a milky grapefruit juice color with two fingers of soft, foamy suds. Retention is excellent, leaving a thick dimpled cap and a tattered curtain of bubbly lacing.
Nose is vanishingly faint but enticing. Grassy, prickly pear, lemon peel, weed… it’s crazy that I’m getting this much from the aroma but, every time I go back in, I get something different.
Taste is earthy, dry, weedy. Prickly pear and underripe pineapple, raspberry and lemon peel, grapefruit and guava, watermelon, bubblegum, aspirin and straw. Finishes with drying, soda-like citrus and earthy-grassy bitterness.
Feel is juicy but drying, medium-light bodied with zippy, bright carbonation.
Overall, an exceptional NEIPA! I made the sensory descriptions read like a little bit of everything but the kitchen sink but, really, it’s a beautifully constructed, harmonious whole, subtle and understated. I could drink these all day (or, at least, if I had more than two). Highly recommended.
