Double Sunset Onyx Coffee Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
This edition of Double Sunsets features our bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout with Onyx Eclipse Coffee, vanilla and milk sugar. We chose this coffee with our friends at Arkansas's Onyx Coffee Lab for its low acidity, nice mouthfeel and complex chocolate and vanilla notes.

Appearance: Pours onyx colored (of course) with a thin beige head that fades to a swirl; leggy with spotty lacing
Smell: Milk chocolate and vanilla with fresh brewed coffee tones; some Bourbon barrel influence
Taste: Coffee forward with the milk chocolate and vanilla building, creating a marshmallow fudge impact when blended with the coffee; some Bourbon in the middle that builds, more significantly, in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and creamy with low carbonation; warmth in the gullet
Overall: Very rich but a bit over the top on the sweet side for my palate

"Imperial stout with Onyx coffee, vanilla & milk sugar - Aged 18 months in bourbon barrels"
16.9 oz bottle, from the Domino Park outpost location in Bklyn, NY.
Super dark pour, minimal dark mocha cap/film and just a smidge of spotty lacing.
Complex sniff with waves of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and vanilla.
Over the top, delicious, rich, complex and heady brew. Fudge brownies, molten lava death by chocolate cake, vanilla, cafe au lait, shredded coconut....world class with the 14%(!) well hidden, making this amazingly easy drinking and quite dangerous!...high quality in all ways...go get some and do not age...this nectar is drinking great right now

Bottle pour at Other Half Finger Lakes in Bloomfield, NY.
This smells like milk chocolate, fruity coffee, vanilla, lactose, and caramel.
There's less barrel on this one than on the Brandywine from this year, but it does peek out a little bit. There's lots of vanilla and milk chocolate, and a pleasant fruity and caramelly coffee character.
This is thick bodied, smooth, and creamy, with very little booziness, and a lower level of carbonation.
Although this wasn't quite as good as the Brandywine, it was still a wonderful coffee stout.
