Collaboration with Firestone Walker Brewing Company

This special edition of our Poetry Snaps rice lager brewed in collaboration with our friends at Firestone Walker is a mash-up of our rice lager and their classic Pivo Pils. We brewed it with Bavarian pilsner malt and rice to give it a classic German malt profile but with a slightly lighter body. Hopped with Hallertau Mittelfruh and Spalt Select in the early editions and then finished off with late editions of Saaz and Saphir hops in the whirlpool and Saphir in the dry hop. Saphir is a hop that both Poetry Snaps and Pivo Pils share as the main hop profile and is loved at both breweries for its delicate tangerine-like citrus character, floral notes, and some mild spice.

16oz can from Aurora Brew Works. Clear golden pour with a one finger white foamy head. Grainy aroma, light hop profile. Taste is sweet and grainy, malty and finishes with a dry hoppy bite . Super quaffable.

Canned 2/18/22 in DC

This is my only takeaway beer from my trip to Other Half’s brand new location in Philly while I was in town. This was relegated to a shower beer during the trip, but now it’s time to sit down and give it a proper review. Let’s see what this Pilsner/Rice Lager hybrid in collaboration with Firestone Walker has to offer

Pours a crystal clear pale gold with a finger of fine white head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves nice lacing

The nose here is quite subtle, but I’m enjoying what is present. I’m picking up on aromas of pale male, lemon zest, crackers, grassy hops, and a touch of grain

It is much more substantial in taste, and quite nice. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting peppery hops, crackery malt, lemon zest, cooked rice, lightly toasted grain. The swallow brings notes of crackery malt, uncooked rice, lemon zest, grassy hops, and a touch of white pepper

A light body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a zesty and crisp beer. Finishes dry and quite refreshing

Aside from the lackluster aroma, this is a very good beer. Insanely drinkable, and a great hybrid beer which admittedly leans more into Pilsner territory

On tap:
Light and refreshing with a crisp carbonation that finishes fairly dry. Thin but full white cap is result of the handful of easily visible, never ending bubble streams from the bottom of the glass.

Nose isn’t hopping out of the glass, a bit of grass and perhaps some grain. Flavors bring a little more to the table, with citrus and light grass/herbal note. As the beer is slowly drunk, the carbonation fades a bit, but exposes a little bit of spice that replaces it nicely.

Nothing is too heavy or overpowering in this beer. It’s nicely balanced with enough nuance in the flavors to not be boring.

Canned on St Patrick's Day, 3/17/22. Let sit out for 5 minutes before opening.

Clear gold with two+ fingers of ivory head, that leaves a 1/2" thick ring of spotty lacing .

Smell is slight lemon , and a neutral dry grain aroma.(Wet rice, that hasn't heated up enough to start cooking?) Pleasant enough aroma, just not much of it.

Taste is light, vague citrus rind mix, and a dry barely-toasted grain flavor. The barest hint of sweetness , mid-sip. A faint bit of coriander, as would be found in a witte, but much less noticeable. Light lingering bitterness.

Feel is light, initially lightly creamy, with light carbonation bite at the end. Slightly drying finish.

Overall very good. I could do without the citrus element, but it's a light touch, much less than Pivo Pils, so not too bothersome. I liked the first two , imbibed on previous occasions, without thinking about it, better than this one being analyzed. Probably the way to go with this . :)
